time to tell them "i love you"

love is the answer: UtopiaPkwyArtStudio
I have struggled with saying "I love you" to my kidlets.

Not because I don't love them.

I do.

But because I did not want to take away from the word "love".

And, I am supposed to view my kidlets with unconditional positive regard. I am supposed to care for them.

But love them ...

Well, maybe, but don't say it.  It's not quite appropriate.

A few "love yous" have snuck out.

But now I am opening the flood gates.

Ms Roig told her grade one students that she loved them, in case it was the last thing that they heard.

Why can't my students hear that I love them too.

They might need to hear it too.

  1. Good for you I'm glad to hear that. When I taught I didn't say I love you either even though I very much loved every single one of them. I have started to make more of an effort the past year and half through subbing of telling the kids that I care about them and love them. They need to hear it now more than ever.

  2. I say I love you all the time...and I kiss them on top of their heads...and I hug them a lot. Life is short, let em all know it.

  3. Okay, this is interesting for me. 'Cause I tell my own kids all the time how much I love them but I feel uncomfortable saying it to my school kids. I always wonder what the parents would think if it got back home ... I know I'm being weird .... Brian, Kimberley and you, Sandi, are inspiring me not to be so anal about it :) Ha ha!
